Harper Macaw Chocolate

75% Atlantic Forest

This flavorful dark chocolate is made from directly traded cocoa beans from the eastern Brazilian state of Bahia. M. Libânio Agricola’s robust agroforestry plots lie outside the small town of Gandu in the heart of the Atlantic rainforest, several hours southwest of the famous colonial town of Salvador. This terroir yields earthen flavors and aromas and also ripe fruit undertones. Manoel Libânio da Silva and his brother started growing several types of tropical agricultural products in 1920. With widespread rainforest destruction in the region at the end of the 20th century, the Libânio family pioneered sustainable agroforestry methods to maintain its farms’ healthy rainforest environment. The farms today meticulously analyze their land and the products that grow there in order to continually improve their already high quality and productivity standards.
