Black Sheep Chocolate

Chivite, Guatemala

The community of San Juan Chivite is based entirely within a 180-hectare cacao farm, abandoned by its owner during the terrible Guatemalan civil war in the 1980’s and handed over in 1985 to the 65 families who were former workers of the farm. In 2002, the families converted a portion of the farm that was formally coffee over to cacao, and as the community has grown from 64 to 125 families today, cacao cultivation remains the source of over 90% of the community’s income.

Wonderful for chocolate lovers!

A great opportunity for chocolate lovers to try hard-to-get or new artisan chocolate. Prompt response to my order, and prompt shipping. Nice packaging, tasting notes. Not inexpensive, but certainly less money than visiting the individual producers and for the chocolate I ordered, was not available to the public directly except in a very large quantity, so ordering from Cococlectic was a good option.

Cherry Flavor Comes Out

With this bar I could definitely name the tarty fruit flavor I was reminded of: Cherry. If you like cherries and you like dark chocolate you can enjoy this either by chewing or letting it melt in your mouth. I recommend trying it out.
